The entire summer is broken down by your favorite movie guys!

Cole: Well it’s that time of year again—summer!!—and you know what that means!

Bobby: Hot dogs??

Cole: What are you talking about?! No, it’s Cole and Bobby’s Big Summer Movie Preview! Finally, the studios are done dumping their junk and the big blockbusters come out to play.

Bobby: And it should be a great one. One word: TRILOGY.

Cole: That’s right, this summer will see the release of fourteen(!!) sequels; six series are back for a second time around, another six films are the third installment in a trilogy, Die Hard is the fourth in it's tetralogy, and another (Harry Potter) is the fifth in a heptalogy.

Bobby: So let’s kick it off with the first week of summer, which happens to feature the biggest movie of the year and the most expensive movie of all-time.

Spider-Man 3
May 4

Cole: Spider-Man 3 is a fantastic spectacle of what a studio can do if they have a series so big that they can spend $500 million and expect to come out on top. With spectacular effects and non-stop action, this is a must see.
Bobby: If you aren't already planning on seeing this one, you shouldn't be watching movies.

28 Weeks Later
May 11

Bobby: 28 Days Later was a really cool and original take on the apocalyptic zombie (or whatever you want to call them) movie. The sequel looks bigger and better, though without director Danny Boyle and star Cillian Murphy, it could go either way. I like that Muse song in the trailer, though.
Cole: I’m excited about this one! After the success of 28 Days Later, director Danny Boyle took his efforts elsewhere, but the series continues with this provocative zombie horror film. Set in a dystopian London, it reminds me of Children of Men.

Shrek the Third
May 18

Cole: This one looks like they just packed on a bunch of jokes we’ve heard before while attempting to parody everything they possibly could. Should be fun though!
Bobby: The Michael Jackson Pinocchio parody kills me every time.

Pirates of the Caribbean:
At World's End

May 25

Bobby: Ahoy mateys! The first installment of this series arrived in 2003 as an instant classic, but I hated the second one.
Cole: Exact opposite. HATED the first one, and second one was pretty enjoyable
Bobby: I just felt they tried to pack in too much in the sequel, and from the looks of it, this one should be the same.

Knocked Up
June 1

Cole: Seth Rogan is the biggest rising star in comedy right now, and Knocked Up will make him a household name. Made by the same guy who did 40 Year-Old Virgin with the same context and style, this is the comedy hit of the summer.

Ocean’s Thirteen
June 8

Bobby: The first one was alright, and the second one sucked (except for that ridiculous scene where the guy break danced through the alarms), so I’m not expecting much out of this. But you know what?? I’m always pumped when there’s stars, and Ocean’s Thirteen packs the stars. Clooney, Pitt, and Damon return (sadly minus ladies Julia and Catherine), plus new villain Al Pacino. Whoo-ah!
Cole: These are always fun and with so much star power you never know what to expect.

Hostel Part II
June 8

Cole: Hostel sucked and this interview made me hate director Eli Roth. Expect this sequel to suck as well, and don’t go see it unless you’re really hankerin’ to see college kids get tortured while reading from a horrible script.
Bobby: Eli Roth needs to make a full-length Thanksgiving

Fantastic Four 2: The Rise of the Silver Surfer
June 15

Bobby: Okay, everyone said the first one was really bad, and it might have been, but I enjoyed it. The second one should be about the same, but everything with the Silver Surfer looks awesome.
Cole: I hated the first one and besides the cool CGI I’m sure this will suck just as much.

Evan Almighty
June 22

Cole: Have you seen this trailer?!?! I can’t even describe how moronic this movie looks. Besides the fact that they show the entire plot, the CGI for this looks terribly amateurish. A few steps down from it’s predecessor Bruce Almighty, this is something to stay away from.
Bobby: I can hardly stand to watch the trailer. This looks terrible.

If you can watch this and not hate it, email me and I'll give you a prize...

Live Free or
Die Hard

June 27 (Wednesday)

Bobby: Hey how old is Bruce Willis these days?
Cole: Umm, 50-something?
Bobby: Yeah 52 to be exact, but it looks like ”Die Hard 4” will pack the same sort of over the top action that the previous three did 18 years later. Yippy-ki-yay!!

Ratatouille
June 29

Cole: Toy Story. Toy Story 2. A Bug’s Life. Monster’s Inc. Finding Nemo. The Incredibles. Cars.
Enough said.

Transformers

Bobby: Watch the trailer. Awesome.

Harry Potter
and the
Order of Phoenix

July 13

Cole: The much anticipated fifth installment in the Harry Potter series has taken a year and a half to come out and the fanatics of the book are already in line to see this.

Hairspray
July 20

Bobby: This is the movie based on the popular musical which was based on the 1988 film. Sadly, this one is not directed by John Waters. With Queen Latifah, Amanda Bynes, Michelle Pfeiffer, this one should be pretty fun. Also, John Travolta takes the role made famous by Devine, and looks like Fergie about 150 pounds and 20 years later.
Cole: No idea what to expect here…

I Now
Pronounce You
Chuck and Larry

July 20

Cole: Adam Sandler’s new comedy with Kevin James as his sidekick should be pretty enjoyable, especially with the topic parodying homophobia (GLAAD signed off on it!)
Bobby: Jessica Biel shows off her acting talents and takes off her clothes in the trailer.

The Simpsons Movie
July 27

Bobby: The long awaited Simpson’s movie arrives about a decade too late. Frankly the show hasn't been relevant in a while, and as a fan I'm pretty worried about this movie.
Cole: Yeah, but as long as I get Smithers on the big screen I’m all smiles.

The Bourne Ultimatum
August 3

Cole: The third volume in the Bourne trilogy brings Matt Damon back once again as Jason Bourne. Hopefully this will pack a bigger punch than the last one did.
Bobby: I really enjoyed the last two and this one won't disappoint.

Rush Hour 3
August 10

Cole: When’s the last time Chris Tucker did a movie?
Bobby: Rush Hour 2??
Cole: Ding ding ding! Actually, Chris Tucker’s only been in 8 movies and wouldn’t have made this if it wasn’t for a $45 million check New Line signed him to in 2000 to secure him for both the second and third installments in the trilogy. As long as Tucker doesn’t sleepwalk through this one, it could provide a few good laughs.
Bobby: I hate Brett Ratner.
